Jamie was born and raised in upstate New York and now resides with her husband and two young daughters in Los Angeles. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) and then an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from the Sage Colleges in New York. She also has a current California Pupil Personnel Services credential (PPS) in School Counseling. Jamie is an ethical, experienced and committed professional who has worked with high school and college students in a variety of settings for over twenty years. Jamie most recently served as the Director of College Counseling at a private high school just outside of Beverly Hills for ten years. In this role, she assisted students in grades nine through twelve with all matters related to college Admissions. She worked with admissions representatives on a regular basis gaining first-hand knowledge of what these colleges are looking for in applicants, what the application pitfalls look like, and how to effectively guide students in crafting the strongest applications possible. Although her students are interested in a range of colleges, many of them have their sights set on the most selective colleges in the country. Her track record in helping these students to meet their goals is exceptional. A large percentage of her students go on to colleges with admit rates below 20% including many ivy league institutions.
Jamie is a long-term member of National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) and Western Association of College Admissions Counseling (WACAC). She has attended a multitude of conferences through these organizations and has participated in many other professional development opportunities. Jamie has toured countless college campuses. She is fluent on Naviance and similar platforms. Because Jamie assisted students with disabilities to apply for accommodations on college entrance exams (SAT and ACT), she is also very knowledgeable in matters related to applying for and receiving accommodations on these exams.
The list of colleges to which students that have worked with Jamie have been admitted to is long - it includes the following: Brown, Columbia, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, University of Chicago, Washington University St. Louis, UCLA, UC Berkeley, NYU, Carnegie Mellon, Boston University, Northeastern, Brandeis, University of Maryland College Park, University of Miami and Indiana University at Bloomington. The list goes on!
Jamie helps to significantly reduce the stress students feel when applying to college because she is extremely knowledgeable in this business, supportive, and thorough. She is kind, yet firm, in her approach to working with students. She encourages her students to take ownership and pride in this process. Together, Jamie and her students are able to craft college applications that reflect the unique strengths of each applicant and that grab the attention and respect of college admissions representatives. Jamie has the expertise to help you to find the best fit colleges and to develop the competitive edge that you need to be admitted to colleges of your choice.
